- A Common Man Looks at the War on Islamic Terror -

Freedom and fear are at war.
The advance of human freedom the great achievement of
our time, and the great hope of every time now depends on us.

Our nation this generation will
lift a dark threat of violence
from our people and our future.
We will rally the world to
this cause by our efforts,
by our courage.
We will not tire,
we will not falter,
we will not fail. George Bush 9/20/2001

What the enemy believes
We are not fighting so
that you will offer us
something.
We are fighting
to eliminate you.
Hussein Massawi,
a former Hezbollah leader.

The Religion of Peace, the Veils continue to fall. Clifford May apologist for Islam.
Four years after savages attacked the center of the United States officially sanctioned religion, Capitalism, not a single Imam of note has absolutely, unequivocally denounced the attacks. Four years after such a horrific mass murder was committed in the name of Islam not a single Imam of note has announced that Bin Laden is an apostate. Why not? If Islam is being misrepresented by him why do they not declare that he has left Islam? For a supposedly great religion that touts its peaceful intent that sort of record should be scandalous. But instead we have folks like Clifford May who should know better still saying things like:
America is not fighting a war against Islam. America is fighting a war against Islamism.

The difference between Islam and Islamism is straightforward: Islam is a religion, a faith, the basis of a great civilization and culture, one that once dominated the world.

By contrast, Islamism is an ?ism? ? a theory, a doctrine, a political movement. Islamists believe that Muslims have a God-given right to dominate the world; or, as the Islamist theorist Abdullah Azzam phrased it, a duty to establish ?Allah's rule on Earth.?
Simple question for Clifford May, exactly how was Islam spread? Was it spread by
armies? If that bit of history is too obscure then explain how Islam is being spread in the Sudan this very second? Is Islam called the religion of the sword for nothing? Does Islam have bloody borders? Did Muhammad himself strike off 800 heads of the unbelievers in Medina? Please explain how that sort of behavior is explained by a religion of Peace? Please explain this startling list of the battles fought by Mohammad's followers over the course of a mere 200 years.

Lately though those rascally Islamic Holy Warriors (what they call themselves and I respect them enough to not claim to know better) have been killing a lot of Muslims. All of a sudden we have some protests from the Islamic Clergy. Forgive me for being such a cynic but does it bother anyone else that it was only after Muslims began to be murdered in greater numbers that they found the time to denounce Terror? And none of them have yet to call Bin Laden an apostate, which if all these apologists for Islam are correct, he is. Instead we have leaders of entire Islamic countries talking about how great suicide bombing is as art!

If the followers of Islam area actually scandalized by the brutal war being waged in their name then they understand why people like me are denouncing their religion. For too long they have stood on the sidelines and allowed murder wholesale to be committed in their name. It is time, well past time, to stand up and regardless of the price denounce those who would cause Islam to fall. And conversely it does no good at all for people such as Hugh Hewitt to declare that Islam is the religion of peace, because if they are then they understand our outrage at their silence, if they are not then it is well past time we declare that we understand the game of good cop, bad cop. It is vital that we understand who our enemies are.
The War Against the Free World: "Clifford D. May, a former New York Times foreign correspondent, is the president of the Foundation for the Defense of Democracies a policy institute focusing on terrorism."
