- A Common Man Looks at the War on Islamic Terror -

Freedom and fear are at war.
The advance of human freedom the great achievement of
our time, and the great hope of every time now depends on us.

Our nation this generation will
lift a dark threat of violence
from our people and our future.
We will rally the world to
this cause by our efforts,
by our courage.
We will not tire,
we will not falter,
we will not fail. George Bush 9/20/2001

What the enemy believes
We are not fighting so
that you will offer us
something.
We are fighting
to eliminate you.
Hussein Massawi,
a former Hezbollah leader.

Sending police on vacation is simply one more bad decision in an unending set of bad decisions...
Someone please explain why we are even listening to the Nagin administration? Is it their brilliance in handling the run up to the hurricane? Perhaps it is their noble stand during the hurricane? Or perhaps it was the dignity and ability they displayed after the hurricane?

So now we have this very same administration proposing to send NOPD Officers who are in desperate need in New Orleans off on Vacation? SAY WHAT! Sure some of them have suffered some losses and those officers should be given some time away from duty to get their affairs in order. But the majority have suffered no more loss than the average New Orleanian and those average citizens are getting no breaks from reality. We are in desperate need of officers and they did utter an oath to protect and serve. By holding them to this oath we will find out who it is in the department that honestly believes in what they do. There is rampant corruption in the Department, you can expect that those most eager to go to Las Vegas are not indeed police officers but people who thought they could at least get a free ride and at worst could use their positions inside of the force to rob, steal and intimidate.

The only purpose of offering a trip to Las Vegas should be to weed those officers out whose idea of Protect and Serve revolves around protecting their position of intimidation and serving their needs to be criminals. Anyone who says yea I want to go to Las Vegas should be immediately fired and their homes should be searched for loot. Those who are not familiar with the NOPD should take a bit of a refresher course
here.

Nagin if he is to retrieve even a small part of his respect should start asking himself, what would Giuliani do? How many of those brave New York Police officers went to Las Vegas during the recovery of the WTC? How many fireman, those very fireman who rushed into towers went on a Las Vegas vacation? The idiocy and incompetency of Lousiana only gets worse...its embarrassing.
