- A Common Man Looks at the War on Islamic Terror -

Freedom and fear are at war.
The advance of human freedom the great achievement of
our time, and the great hope of every time now depends on us.

Our nation this generation will
lift a dark threat of violence
from our people and our future.
We will rally the world to
this cause by our efforts,
by our courage.
We will not tire,
we will not falter,
we will not fail. George Bush 9/20/2001

What the enemy believes
We are not fighting so
that you will offer us
something.
We are fighting
to eliminate you.
Hussein Massawi,
a former Hezbollah leader.

Wilma sets up Florida to allow Jeb to show Blanco how to do it.
After the recent debacle in Louisiana I have developed the unfortunate habit of seeing every new hurricane as a teaching moment for our incompetent local officials. And yes I agree with Michelle Malkin that FEMA had a share in the blame but it was only a very small share. We could have used a less bureaucratic bureaucracy but sadly we got the same old same old and just like every bureaucracy in an emergency people died while it figured out what to do next whilst keeping its ass covered. Think Army at the beginning of every war, where its pretty much a tradition that the peacetime leadership will bungle around losing lives until fired.

But Blanco and Nagin are worse, much worse. They are even worse than the epitome of evil
Shepard Smith who single handedly stopped the evacuation of the New Orleans by scaring away the Army and National Guard. Thank god Shepard wasn't in Fallujah. But Blanco and Nagin are worse than that, because they simply are incompetent on a level that thankfully is seldom seen on the political scene mostly because public officials through sheer blind stupid luck dodge the sort of bullets that caught both of them right between the eyes.

So now watch Blanco and Nagin how competent local officials do it. See if you can find hundreds of busses unused. See if any of their "Shelters of Last Resort" are not stocked with food and water for the duration. See if they haven't worked out communications amongst the different branches of government so that their State Police don't hold up vital supplies and repair crews. Lets take a look and see whether their Police Departments go on shopping spree's in Walmart for the required Plasma Screens the NOPD thought they needed.
