Read a marvelous article by Victor Davis Hanson today then this terrific article and it strikes me how both of these individuals use the term Islamist to describe the purps of the disasters that are causing much of the world to cower. When we make the distinction between muslims exactly where does the cut off come? Do we agree that those who blow up buildings are bad muslims=islamists? What about muslims who chop off heads of schoolgirls are they bad muslims=islamists? Are the only muslims we can get along with Jack Muslims to borrow a phrase? Do moderate pious muslims even exist, you know those ones who get along with their neighbors even if their neigbors eat pork, who don't mind if I have a drink, who won't demand that my wife stay home and not drive, you know the mythical ones who tolerate my behavior? If they do please point to an example. The Turks who are supposed to be the most secularized murdered a million perhaps more Christian Armenians. Were they Islamists? Were the muslims who murdered millions of Hindus on the way to the slave markets, Islamists? Was Mohammed an Islamist or a Moderate? Is CAIR part of the moderate muslim population or the Islamist?

Lying to ourselves doesn't seem to be working out very well.

When we claim that the muslims who are creating such havoc these days are not true muslims are we not a bit put off how few "moderate" muslims stand up to protest such behavior?ShrinkWrapped: The French "Intifada"
