First of all if you have not been following the Able Danger saga please go right now and read Lt Col Tony Shaffer's testimony to the House Armed Services Committee. In that document you will find a clear and concise explanation of just exactly how screwed up our Government is when confronted by its own errors. You will find a story about how we had the 9/11 Hijackers dead to rights, long before 9/11. You will know that this cuts right across partisan lines and truly is a story that both sides can find both comfort and alarm to think about late at night. This is a story of how the Government truly works away from the harsh glare of the Mainstream Media's childish simplification of the battles inside of the Government. Inside the document Lt Col Shaffer names names and lets us know who the hero's are and who are the villains. Not politely but with the passion of a person who feels bewildered by the idiocy raging around him. This is not the work of a disgruntled Government employee that is seeking to embarrass a politician or party but the work of a Patriot trying to protect his country.

Well tonight we had a conference call with Mark Zaid who is representing Lt Col Shaffer Pro Bono against a vengeful government. Scorned this angry monster, comprised of all the scorned alphabet bureaucracies, is seeking to expel an irritant who has dared to name the names of incompetent ass covering bureaucrats inside of our fumbling government. Bureaucrats who have put their careers ahead of National Security not once or twice but again and again. Bureaucrats whose single overriding goal seems to be climb as high as possible, even if it takes climbing over bodies, without a blemish (failure is a four letter word) then to retire. Course failure has a different definition inside of the Bureaucracy. Inside of the DIA, CIA, and Pentagon failure means to not be blamed for error, not be seen talking to people who have erred, and never to admit an error.

Mark Zaid was as puzzled as I have been about why the Government is seeking to distance itself from this program. Mark told us all that in his 13 years of Washington he has never seen the knives come out as hard and fast as they did when Able Danger was revealed. Like most of us who have been following this blockbuster of a story he speaks highly of Rep Curt Weldon, repeatedly stating that Rep Weldon appears to be the only person who has a clear idea of what is going on regarding Able Danger.
