The right side of the blogsphere learned the wrong lesson with their victory over the President's nomination of Harriet Miers to the Supreme Court. They do not run the country.

What this looks like to me is the Democrats using Karl Rove tactics against the Republicans. Stake out a controversial position then watch the opposition run out ahead of you on the limb then you smile and saw off the branch. Republicans meet Wiley Coyote!

Just wait till the Dems start accusing the Republicans of being racist and bigoted what fun that all will be. There is absolutely no reason to nix this deal. And plenty of reasons to let the President do what he has done so well so far.

If we have any allies in the Middle East then the UAE surely qualifies as one of our strongest. We must reward our allies with at the very least respect. Being hysterical about this deal does no one any good. Provide facts, provide proof that the Government of the UAE supports terrorism. Provide proof other than simply screaming at the top of your lungs about how dangerous this deal is. Why is it dangerous aside from vague warnings of not trusting anyone from the ME. Shall we turn down help from the Iraqis when they help us against the terror states? If this is so then lets just skip the preliminaries and start bombing them all now.

Those of you who have read this blog know that I have grave doubts about Islam. But this is not about Islam. This is about rewarding an ally who has helped us in the past. Its about our honor. Its about whether we are actually a scared bunch of sissies hiding in the corner from scary people who live elsewhere.
