- A Common Man Looks at the War on Islamic Terror -

Freedom and fear are at war.
The advance of human freedom the great achievement of
our time, and the great hope of every time now depends on us.

Our nation this generation will
lift a dark threat of violence
from our people and our future.
We will rally the world to
this cause by our efforts,
by our courage.
We will not tire,
we will not falter,
we will not fail. George Bush 9/20/2001

What the enemy believes
We are not fighting so
that you will offer us
something.
We are fighting
to eliminate you.

Why I disagree with the THE MESOPOTAMIAN
Instapundit recommended this piece and so naturally I dashed over there to see what the fuss was about. By and large I was not disappointed by the time spent reading the article but this bit caught me off guard.

THE MESOPOTAMIAN: 02/01/2006 - 02/28/2006: "Those in the West who give such people the ammunition and pretexts to launch such pitiful shows and stir up the emotions of gullible simple people, are their allies and facilitators. "
Not sure but it sounds like he misunderstands the reasons the Danes printed the cartoons. To me it sounds like Alaa believes the cartoons were printed merely to insult Mohammed. That wasn't the case at all.

Instead as Mark Steyn so eloquently pointed out in a terrific article a couple of days ago the cartoons were published to fight against the self censorship that is occurring in Denmark regarding Muslims. For that matter the same thing is happening all over the western world as those who would like to transport us back to 7th century Sharia rule, use our own guilt brought on by supposed past mis-deeds to shame us into silence. The vehicle that drives us into silence is called multiculturalism and the gist of it is that all cultures are supposedly equal with none above and none below in justness. And interesting theory that falls apart with the slightest of glances, for instance does anyone want to revisit the Southern Culture of slavery?.

With the murder of Pim Fortuyn and Theo van Gogh now not only are people scared of being called a bigot if they speak against Muslims but now they may even be murdered. The chilling effect that has on the Media cannot be underestimated, which is exactly why the murders happened. Sure the first goal was to shut up both gentlemen but the larger goal was to intimidate others into silence. There was sure to be a push back and its not really that surprising that it came from editorial cartoons as those seem to be the universal method to challenge authority.

They published those cartoons because it is a firm belief of many in the west that if you do not vigorously use and defend your rights the Government will have absolutely no problem slowing taking them away. And the rights to a free press and to free speech are the corner stones of our civilization though they have always troubled the government heh. Notice that in Britain where the rights to free speech have been around for hundreds of years they are making laws to protect religion from what they define as hate speech. Those cartoons would most likely have been defined as hate speech. Britain is putting the gag in its mouth all on its own. What a terrific shame.

It is not limited to Britain as the United States has all on its own violated both the spirit and letter of its own Constitution with the help of a ambitious Senator who isn't the brightest bulb in the box. We could have hoped that the President would not sign the bill, but in a dashing bit of idiocy he did, supposedly as his apologists point out because everyone was sure the Supreme Court would rule against the law. They didn't and now we have taken away vital rights to free speech as it relates to Political Campaigns the very reason the Founders of our country gave us the rights in the first place. As you can see one must be constantly vigilant against the loss of rights.

I believe that is what motivated the Danes. I believe the protests are the result of Muslims believing that the time was right to push the Europeans further into Dhimmitude. Given the evidence of Britain they may not have been wrong. But for the sake of the world I hope they were because the United States will never accept a Europe under Sharia law.

DON'T FORGET: BUY DANISH MOHAMMED WOULD WANT YOU TO!
