- A Common Man Looks at the War on Islamic Terror -

Freedom and fear are at war.
The advance of human freedom the great achievement of
our time, and the great hope of every time now depends on us.

Our nation this generation will
lift a dark threat of violence
from our people and our future.
We will rally the world to
this cause by our efforts,
by our courage.
We will not tire,
we will not falter,
we will not fail. George Bush 9/20/2001

What the enemy believes
We are not fighting so
that you will offer us
something.
We are fighting
to eliminate you.
Hussein Massawi,
a former Hezbollah leader.

Does Dubai recognize Israel? Are they part of the boycott of Danish goods?
Having at one point backed the deal for UAE to run the ports I have to say that I was happy to see the House of Representatives put the kibosh on the deal. At the risk of being called names let me give you some reasons.

1. UAE participates in the
boycott of Israel. This would seem to make them ineligible right off the bat from doing business with the US Government. We have a law against doing business with anyone who boycotts Israel.

2. They are also boycotting Denmark. Given Denmark's support of our war on terror rewarding UAE for boycotting Denmark would seem to be like pissing in our own well.

3. Does the UAE give support to terror organizations like Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad if so it is in violation of our President's very own statement in that brilliant September 20, 2001 speech. We will starve terrorists of funding, turn them one against another, drive them from place to place, until there is no refuge or no rest. And we will pursue nations that provide aid or safe haven to terrorism. Every nation, in every region, now has a decision to make. Either you are with us, or you are with the terrorists. From this day forward, any nation that continues to harbor or support terrorism will be regarded by the United States as a hostile regime.

Were those empty words meant only to assuage the rage Americans felt and the revenge they demanded? Did we forget? Are people like Andrew McCarthy not to be trusted when they raise up warning flags? Are people like Rep Curt Weldon not to be take seriously when they stand against the Port deal? Are we to be called names when we begin to have second thoughts about dealing with a country that seems to be playing both sides of the fence?
