Did the Grandchildren of those in Auschwitz learn the lesson or not

Because it is those Grandchildren in Israel who must now decide whether they will try and appease those whose philosophy revolves around their wholesale murder or show that they truly understand the implications of “Never Again”! All around the world country after country have shown themselves unwilling to face the horrible implications of a 21st century religious war fought with modern weapons but that is where we all find ourselves. We face 7th Century thugs who have just enough knowledge to press buttons and send terrible weapons to fall upon us.

The politicians in the West have skirted the issue by calling our war the “War on Terror” but sooner or later we must face the terrible implications that instead of it being a war against a tactic it is indeed a war between religions. All of our politicians have tried to claim that Islam is a peaceful religion when all the evidence is stacked against such a simple statement. A religion that was established by its own Prophet with the sword has no claim on peace.

The question remains do the Israelis have the stamina after all these long years under the threat of instant war to fight yet again. And what will they do if Iran makes good on their threats to attempt to push the Jews into the Sea? Will Israel buy into the nonsense of the UN and those who bray on about giving up territory for peace? Does Israel believe that she is in a war against terror or in a war against Islam?

For so long we have tried to fight a war where no one gets hurt. We have tried to fight a war where we don’t name the enemy. We have tried to fight a war where we don’t attempt to break the will of those we fight and their supporters. Israel has for sometime been fighting the same sort of war apparently using our tactics of sending signals but never utterly destroying the enemy.

I do not believe that sort of war solves anything. I believe that sort of war merely prolongs the inevitable and in doing so makes the ending so much worse. Had we stopped Hitler in Poland imagine all the lives we would have saved. If we would have stopped the Japanese in China think of the millions of lives that would have been saved. Appeasement and going halfway don’t seem to work very well.

We must fight a war like we mean to win. So must Israel. One might be forgiven for thinking that it is absurd to believe that Israel is fighting any other sort of war but it is obvious from the results that Israel believes half measures will suffice. They never have.

Israelis must not let the words of those in the West who attack them discourage them from defending themselves. The last time Jews depended on the words of those sorts to defend them, the ovens worked overtime. Those they fight now are even worse than the Nazis. Because even the Nazis were moral enough to be ashamed of their mass murdering ways. This was evident in the lengths they went to hide the murder of 11 million in camps. The enemies that both the US and Israel and other nations around the world face, video tape their mass murders so as to brag about it. Half measures will not work against that sort.

It is too much to hope that we would stand on the battlefields shoulder to shoulder with Israel fighting for our shared heritage but that is what should happen.
